Do you have too much debt?

Too much debt?
Warnings that your debt is too high

Warning: You pay the minimum balance
The statement says pay R200.00, yet total debt is R2 000.00. Pay more so you don’t get hit with interest. If you can only pay the minimum balance, you’re stretched too thin.
Fix it: Pay off what you can, especially on high-interest debt such as credit cards.

Warning: You pay debt with debt
You juggle cards and pay off bills with your credit card.
Fix it: Paying off one debt with others shows your funds are at breaking point. Make a budget and stick to it.

Warning: You lie about spending
Money worries cause break-ups and stress.
Fix it: They’ll still love you, even if you owe wads, so talk to friends and family and don’t suffer alone.

Warning: You’re depressed and anxious about your finances
People who carry too much debt often suffer stress and depression.
Fix it: Don’t wait to get help. Chat to the bank or a debt counsellor.
